Ranplan Wireless, developer of the world’s first combined 5G NR indoor and outdoor planning, optimisation, management and visualisation platform, Ranplan Professional, has been recognised by the European Commission as a ‘key innovator’ and selected for entry onto its Innovation Radar platform.
The innovation results from a collaboration with the University of Sheffield and University of Linköping of Sweden in project DECADE (Deploying High Capacity Dense Small Cell Heterogeneous Networks), a research project funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020 programme to research and develop technologies to advance joint indoor-outdoor HetNet planning/optimisation to support 4G/5G. This innovation has already been successfully incorporated into Ranplan Professional, the world’s first joint indoor-outdoor HetNet planning software platform, launched in 2018.
The European Commission’s Innovation Radar includes a panel of highly regarded independent experts who analyse project innovations and their research outcomes according to clearly defined methodologies developed by the Joint Research Centre. These include an innovation potential indictor, an innovator capacity indicator and a barometer to measure maturity level for commercialisation. The panel concluded that Ranplan was a ‘key innovator’ and its innovation was particularly ‘noteworthy’ in the light of the market readiness and potential.
